Flagey is a beautiful art deco building and cultural centre in Brussels. From 23/6 to 30/6, June, they organize the
Brussels Film Festival, 8 days film (focus on European movies) and party, with over 60 films in première, open air screenings and free concerts.
This year’s edition features a.o. the Icelandic film maker
Valdís Oskarsdóttir with ‘Country Wedding’, the Belgian
Olivier Boonjing with ‘Somewhere between here and there’ a poetic view on Brussels and Belgian young talents
Fien Troch ( ‘Dirty Mind’) and
Pieter Van Hees. A few European premières:
Lukas Moodysson (from ‘Together’, ‘Fucking Åmål’) with ‘Mammoth’ and
Michael Winterbottom with ‘Genova’.

The 2nd edition of Culinaria, a fabulous gastronomic event takes place from 3 to 6 June 2010 in Tour & Taxis, which is nearby our bed & breakfast Lenoir 96. I really love the concept: 16 of the best chefs in Belgium (26 stars in the famous ‘Guide Michelin’) show their art of cooking. Each of them prepares a course. You can choose from 4 different menus, each with 4 courses. A menu costs 45 EUR/pers (40 EUR in pre-sales). A very original and rather democratic way to discover some of the best chefs of our country.
There are also 11 workshops and a gastronomic market with about 50 stands.
I was at the first edition at Cinquantenaire and really loved it. Great atmosphere (despite the bad weather, but this edition is later in the year), wonderful food and perfect organisation.

The very renowned royal greenhouses (Dutch; Koninklijke serres van Laken, French: Serres Royales de Laeken) are situated in the park of the Royal Castle of Laeken in Brussels. Commissioned by King Leopold II of Belgium, the complex was built between 1874 and 1895. The total floor surface is about 2,5 hectares. It’s one of the main tourist attractions in Brussels.
Inside the greenhouses, you can admire an extended collection of exotic plants and flowers. Once a year, when most flowers are in full bloom, the greenhouses are open for public. Last year, this event welcomed 115.000 visitors. This year, you can visit the greenhouses between 15th of April and 9th of May. Tickets are 2,5 EUR. Info: www.monarchie.be

Greenhouses Laeken
Couleur café is a very likable music festival, organized on the site of Tour & Taxis, at only 2,5 km from our B&B Lenoir96. Couleur café welcomes every year about 80.000 visitors and over 40 different concerts, spread over 3 days. The style is R&B, hip hop, world, afro, reggae, ragga, dub, dancehall, Latin, salsa, son, raï and rock under three huge tents. There is also a dance floor featuring electronic music. It’s the ideal festival to start the summer with cocktails and world food.
The program looks promising: a.o. Rodrigo y Gabriela (a must-see !), NTM, Snoop Dogg, George Clinton, NAS.
Tour & Taxis is 5 min. driving by car from Lenoir 96 or 13 min. by bus (bus 88, avenue Woeste). If you’re looking for a hotel or B&B to spend the weekend in style, don’t hesitate to contact us.
